Sunday 17 February 2013
Palm Beach Parklands 5.30-9pm (orchestra is playing from 7.30pm)
This is a FREE Bleach Festival event.
Combining orchestral music and choral choirs with bold animated projections, stunning costumes and physical performance, this innovative multi-media concert is set to dazzle audiences.
The 60-member Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Conductor Mark Turpin and Concert Master Margaret McAteer, and featuring soloists Kathleen Procter-Moore and Grace Bawden, will provide the soaring soundtrack to the evening.
To start the night off, vocal ensembles, Voice Weavers and Imbari will perform the sounds of the sea under the direction of Stringmansassy songstress, Kacey Patrick. Based around songs of the ocean, the musical program will build to the spectacular crescendo provided by dance theatre company Polytoxic performing Trade Winds, an outdoor installation piece.
Trade Winds will be performed after dark, over the waters of Palm Beach/Currumbin Lagoon and will feature artists Leah Shelton and Lisa Fa’alafi, with visuals from Cairns artist Sam Tupou. Their performance celebrates the stories and history of the Pacific Ocean.
Food and beverage will be available for purchase from Dune Café. Bring your picnic rugs and deck chairs.
